Eye Tests

  • Do you find the text blurred when you read?
  • Do you suffer from frequent headaches?
  • Do you struggle to see road signs?
  • Do your eyes get dry when you use a computer or watch TV?
  •
If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, it might be time to have an eye test to check your eye sight.

Regular eye tests are important because we often do not recognise, or ignore, the signs when something is wrong. Eye tests provide a vital health check for your eyes and your general well-being. An eye test can often identify eye diseases such as glaucoma (the second most common cause of blindness) which can be prevented. It can also spot diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

It is recommended that you get your eyes testing every two years, although if you suffer from any of the conditions above you may benefit from more frequent sights tests.

The cost of an eye test at Jean Rigby Opticians is £30.00.

What does an eye test involve?

    A sight test will identify:
    • What your level of vision is.
    • Whether you need glasses to correct your sight.
    • Our ophthalmic practitioners will test your sight and examine the area around your eyes to looks for any signs of injury, disease or abnormality.
Once the examination is complete, the practitioner will discuss the results with you. They will give you a prescription that states one of the following:
    • You don’t need glasses.
    • Your current glasses are OK and don’t need changing.
    • You need new glasses with different lenses (including the exact specification required).
    • You are being referred to your GP or eye clinic for further investigation.
